2019
This was a personal project that I did at the start of my Final Major Project. I needed to kick-start the creative process, get motivated and find some inspiration. My past few projects used mostly digital processes and were heavily focused on the meaning behind them so I decided to create some purely aesthetic work using only manual techniques. I based the project on plants as this is a passion of mine - my collection currently stands at around 20 different plants... I explored a range of techniques including screen printing, painting and drawing thinking about texture, pattern and colour. I ended up with an extensive body of work and I wanted to collate it into something that felt a little more finalised. My plan for my Final Major Project was to create a magazine so I felt that creating a zine would feed in to this. I used it as an opportunity to experiment with page design, layout and interaction, using fold out pages, pockets and tracing paper. It felt good to create something physical again and come away from my screen...
